The MMS Programme at Dr. VN BRIMS will soon enter its sixth year. Launched in the academic year 2005-2006, the institute has made every effort to provide quality education to students. Over the last five years Dr. VN BRIMS has made its mark in the field of management education and has taken significant stride forward. Starting in August 2005, Dr. VN BRIMS saw several things happen - students winning awards in inter-business school competitions, substantial contribution by faculty members in scholarly endeavours through participation and presentation in different forums and conferences, seminars addressed by eminent personalities such as Shri. Narayana Murthy of Infosys, Shri. Ajay Piramal an eminent industrialist, Shri. Nitin Paranjape of Hindustan Unilever and Shri. Deepak Ghaisas of Gencoval. It was indeed a proud day for Dr. VN BRIMS when at its annual seminar on "Challenges for Indian Multinationals", held on 17th May, 2006, Shri. Narayana Murthy noted, "You have to showcase a wonderful role model in creating excellent institutions like this." This was much more than a mere milestone for any Institute in its very first year of existence. Similarly, Dr. VN BRIMS staff, teachers, library, administration and information technology centre had all ventured, as early as 2006, to create a quality policy document to enhance and continuously upgrade and update their service standards in respect of every aspect of Dr. VN BRIMS.
Dr. VN BRIMS is now an ISO 9001:2000 certified institute since July 2008 and is further looking forward to achieving ISO 9001:2008 accreditation. Every activity at Dr. VN BRIMS continues with unabated vigour and unstinted support by the Management of Vidya Prasarak Mandal (VPM), Thane under the enlightened leadership of the Chairman, Dr. Vijay Bedekar and his team of trustees. Dr. VN BRIMS has several research and other publications to its credit in the management field. This bears testimony to the abilities of the institute and the serious intention of serving the society at large through production, transmission and dissemination of knowledge.
The students at Dr. VN BRIMS go through a rigorous, two year full-time, state-of-the-art Master of Management Studies (MMS) Programme affiliated to the University of Mumbai and approved by AICTE. For the first time in the history of the MMS Programme of the University of Mumbai, the University has made summer internship a mandatory proposition, for purposes of formal evaluation, since the academic year 2007-2008. Thus, in the third semester of the said programme, one of the items for evaluation is "Summer Internship Report" and carries a weightage of 100 marks i.e. 'one course equivalent'. In fact, our students have done very well at the MMS semester examinations. Our results, at the MMS degree examinations, conducted by the University of Mumbai, since inception (2005-07) to date, have been very encouraging. The MMS Programme lays stress on blending different kinds of skills, both, hard and soft. An effort is made to develop a right balance between different competencies. The MMS students at Dr. VN BRIMS go through tough quality standards with respect to academic inputs and exposure to practices of Management in business and industry. Above all, discipline, personality development and character building are everyday mantras of education at Dr. VN BRIMS. We provide education and training to leaders of tomorrow and hence great care is taken to transcend the syllabus, classroom inputs and routine teaching pedagogy. Special effort is made to provide inputs on Indian Heritage and Management. Further, a lot of attention is given to value- based education leading to holistic development of students' personalities.
One more milestone in the career of Dr. VN BRIMS is the creation and development of a dedicated website. This will bring us closer to all our stakeholders and will facilitate networking 'inter se' from and to any part of the World. This will help us to have a global heart and operate with local peripherals and be an entity to be reckoned with in this global electronic village. The website will facilitate enabling, empowering and enactment of all stakeholders to the mutual advantage of one another in the cause of management education in particular and the management movement in general.
