“Technology & Management in Knowledge Society - Innovate, Integrate & Inspire”

VPM's DR VN Bedekar Institute of Management Studies (BRIMS) recently organized the National Conference on theme “Technology & Management in Knowledge Society - Innovate, Integrate & Inspire” on 3rd February 2018.


Eminent Industry Experts from leading organizations graced the occasion by addressing the audience on their experiences and research findings of all aspects and facets of technology in corporate, education and society.


Conference started with opening remarks and welcome address from the Director of BRIMS, Dr. Nitin Joshi. He emphasized on development of Innovative business models on the grounds of technology evolution. He discussed on the new technology formats and frameworks which enable business to succeed and sustain. He expressed the need to transform academia to education 4.0 on the same platform of Industry 4.0 evolution.


Dr. Guruprasad Murthy, Director General, DR VN BRIMS, addressed the audience on statistics of Indian economy and impact of technology landscape, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, Big Data on today’s innovative business processes. He expressed the concern on need for blended learning through different pedagogy of experiential learning. He also announced the next year's theme of national conference on “The global economic scenario: Its impact on India” which will be held next year on 2nd February 2019.


The speech was followed by the release of Institute's annual research journal “SRUJAN” bearing ISSN number 2456-4079 in the presence of all invited dignitaries and audience.


Dr.Uday Sawant, Head of Smart Devices, Wearable and IOT at L&T InfoTech addressed the conference as a chief guest. He presented the Gartner Hype Curve and related technology trend with reference to smart dust, blocks chain and augmented reality. He expressed the deep concern on R&D efforts and contribution of private sector from India. He explained the recent example of technology implementation and changes at various leading organizations such as Tesla, Amazon, L&T Infotech etc.


Anuja Shukla, Strategic technology Partner Growth lead at Google India was a key note speaker of the event. She inspired the students, academicians and Industry representatives by her informative and influential talk on recent trends in technology and machine learning. She shared the Google’s principles of innovation which includes focus on user, fail quickly and learn, share everything; data is more important than opinions, let people perceive their dreams.


Mr.Piyush Kapadia,CFO & CIO at TechNova Imaging Systems Pvt ltd addressed the conference as guest of honor. He discussed about the global transformation and disruptive changes in Business world. He appeals students to develop the habit of respecting the failures to learn the opportunities.


National conference also had expert eminent guests for panel discussion on the theme. Mr Gurvinder Singh , Program Manager at Capgemini, Mr. Prasanna Lohar, Head Technology ,Innovation & Architecture- DCB Bank Ltd , Mr. Krishnan Subramanian, Head Research & Development, JK Helene Curtis limited -Raymond India , Mr. Sameer Apte ,Leader - Partner Programs & Promotions - APJ Region Cisco were the panel members of the event. The session was moderated by Prof Sushma Dave, Dr V N BRIMS, Thane.


Second half of the day consisted of the research paper presentations for academicians, Industry speakers and innovative app contest for students. Management Faculties across the country, professionals and representatives from the industries, Students across the management institutes participated for the presentations. The sessions were evaluated by Dr. Sukhada Tambe and Mr. Abhijeet Godbole, Assistant professors, Dr VN BRIMS. The best paper from faculties and students were adjudged and the winners were awarded certificates. The paper presented by team of Dr. Pallavi Chandvaskar and Ms.Vini Somaiya won the Best paper award, Paper presented by Mr M Guruprasad, Director-Research, Universal Business School awarded with the second best paper presentation.


Prof Kanchan Akshay, Assistant Professor, BRIMS conducted Innovative app contest in which Mr Harshit S Parkar and Ms Harshada Kudtarkar,VPM Polytechnic won award for best application idea of Organ Donation application. The team of Mr. Keshav Jha, Mr Shailesh Sandimani of Welingkar Institute of Management and the team of Devang Somaiya Sumit Lalvani of DR VN BRIMS won second and third award respectively .
Dr. Smita Jape, Assistant Professor, DR VN BRIMS, convener of the conference proposed vote of thanks to all dignitaries, participants, professionals, faculty members, staff and students.
