Significance of Summer Internship

Summer Internship for a B-school student is the platform to have an experience of the middle-level management in the real business world scenario. It is the year where students decide their specialization and set their goals for the coming life. Working in the real world makes them rethink if they are interested in particular specialization and the particular sector. It provides an opportunity for the students to showcase their talent and target for the final placement. The internship provides an opportunity for developing skills in a structured approach under the guidance of industry experts. It leads to the academic, career and personal development of the students. 

The benefits of a summer internship to the students are:

The summer internship project is an opportunity for the students to share their experiences with the outside world. The project of the summer internship is mainly decided by the organization in which students are working in consultation with the academic guide.

Process 

1. Selection of broad area of study: The area of study should be decided based on the discussion with the industry mentor and the college project guide. The area should be such that the project will add value to the organization.

 
2. Objectives of the Study: The objectives should be decided based on the gap analysis of the organization’s current state and future expectations. The gap can be only based on past research project projects in the same area of study. 


3. Formulating the research methodology: This part describes the sample of the study, research design, and sampling technique.


4. Data collection: The data can be collected with the help of primary (survey or interviews) and secondary data collection. 


5. Analyzing and interpreting the data: The qualitative and quantitative data need to analyzed using various statistical tools and meaningful inferences should be drawn which have applicability. 


6. Writing the project report: The report should be prepared according to the guideline of the university.
