Today, teachers are no longer the source of information.
There is a need to teach students how to handle the information.
E.g. Validate, leverage, communicate, collaborate and problem solving with information.
Teacher should be a Facilitator, Mentor and makes the student to think.
Student Engagement is important.
Digital Pedagogy is not about using digital technologies for teaching, rather it is about approaching those tools from a critical pedagogical perspective.
Why Digital Pedagogy is Popular with Students?
Students’ thinking patterns have changed
There are 2 types: -
1. Digital Immigrant:
Individuals who grew up without digital technology and adopted it later
2. Digital Native:
Individuals who have grown up with new technology. Today’s new generation fall in this category.
Which are the New Pedagogies?
Pedagogical Styles…
Experiential Learning - Project-Based Learning: -
In this type of learning, students can explore real-world problems and challenges and get a practical knowledge.
Problem-Based Learning
In this, students learn about a subject through the experience of solving an open-ended problem. This includes knowledge acquisition, better group collaboration and communication.
Gamification: A Different Paradigm of Pedagogy
It has been observed many times that if a topic is taught with game simulation, then it becomes easier for the learner to understand and remember it.
Mobile learning Apps: -
Mobile learning Apps are becoming more popular among students because of customized learning.
Following Additional Activities should be conducted for the all-round development of the Students: -
- ACDC Process (Assessment Centre & Development Centre): - It helps to measure knowledge, skills and ability of the candidate. Assessment and Development Centers use techniques like simulations, psychometric tests and exercises to evaluate the candidate.
- Proficiency Tests: - Proficiency tests are conducted to check the candidate’s skill set and knowledge.
E.g. Key skills required for Data Analyst Job include: - a high level of mathematical ability, programming languages such as SQL, Oracle, Python. Problem solving skills and ability to analyse, model and interpret data is also important.
This all will help in creating Excellence in Education by having the following things: -
